It was also an opportunity for the Pathways family to welcome 66 freshmen from different colleges and universities – bringing our total number of students bridged to college to 301! Graduates and upperclassmen gave a few tips on surviving and enjoying college for the excited younger classmen.
Two 2 new staff members – Abby Quindiagan (Admin and Finance Officer) and TanTan Angeles (Project Officer for Education Development) were also formally introduced to the college students.
The college students broke out into groups and met their facilitators, after business matters were discussed. They were given the time to get to know each other more and prepare for the coming general assemblies througout the year.
After a delicious snack of bread and sago’t gulaman, students trooped back to Escaler Hall where they listened to a talk from Youth Vote Philippines. With the Philippine national elections a few months away, Pathways invited an expert to encourage more young people to register and claim their stake in national issues. Mr. Ralph Morales, an advocate of voter’s education and youth leadership, explained the impact of he youth and the importance of their votes.
It was indeed a great way to start the school year for the Pathways scholars and staff – welcoming another year togerther with much fun and learning.
