October 26 (Day 2): Skill-building Workshops

The second day of the educ8 2 liber8 College and Scholarship Fair featured more self-enhancement workshops and the educ8 concert. Topics include developing good study habits, time and stress management, and preparing for interviews.

Julie Ann Manguerra, Pathways' first Cum Laude graduate, joined the discussion on developing good study habits. Anna Theresa Licaros, reigning Bb. Pilipinas - Universe and outstanding UP Law student, shared tips on how she manages to stay on top of her class despite her many other responsibilities as a celebrity. Joining Manguerra and Licaros is Von Karlo Sinence, junior Ateneo student and active youth leader. Sinence is also part of the Pathways program. Students were all ears to the speakers as they share their study habits. The speakers and hosts Mia Saavedra (3rd from left) and Nikko Viquiera (extreme right) are joined onstage by Pathways' Ira Tamis and Boom Quina to present tokens of appreciation. The speakers also gamely posed with the audience for a group shot after their sharing session. Students also participated in a Stress Management worskhop by De La Salle University instructor Regina de Gracia. Ms. De Gracia divided the students into groups, as the stress management workshop entailed sharing and processing sessions which were handled by volunteer facilitators. The students were also asked to build a house made of drinking straw as one of their activities. Ms. De Gracia tries to make a point to one of the groups in the time management workshop. De Gracia shown here receiving her plaque of appreciation from Pathways director Solvie Nubla and host Nikko Viquiera. Better time management entails less stress. Ms. Cecilia Bulos of Ateneo's Psychology Department follows the time management workshop to give students tips on how they can better deal with stress. Students enjoy a break from the talks in the stress management workshop. Stress is an inevitable part of the transition from high school to college. That's why it is important that students know how they can best deal with it as early as their last year in high school. True to its title, the stress management program helped the students relax a little even while thinking about their future life in college. Rachelle Rodriguez, long-time Pathways volunteer, gave the talk on how students can better prepare themselves for interviews. Rachelle Rodriguez is presented with a plaque of appreciation and token after her talk on improving interview skills. Presenting is Ira Tamis of Pathways (left).
