October 25 (Day 1): Career and College Talks

Students actively participate in the Career Talk. Former Pathways member Mia Saavedra and volunteer Eric Habijan hosted the program during the first day. The first workshop focused on self-assessment to help graduating high school students chart their career paths, beginning with choosing the right major for them. Ms. Gemima Ata of the Ateneo Career Placement Office facilitate. Pathways staff members Kim Pobre and Zsa zsa Zafe along with the hosts looks on with interest to a point being made by the speaker. Pathways Director Solvie Nubla reads the plaque of appreciation to be handed to Ms. Ata after facilitating the career talk. A group of high school students give a special dance number for a welcome break. Following the Career Talk is the College Talks where participating universities and colleges were given the opportunity to further discuss their programs and financial aid offerings. The University of Asia and the Pacific were among the exhibitor schools which gave a College Talk. Shown here and the next image are their representatives. Ms. Dori Capili, Admissions Officer of Our Lady of Fatima University (foreground) led the talk for their insitution. Fatima is well-known for its allied and medical science programs. The Far Eastern University was also at hand to discuss more about their school. Ms. Fely Moreno of the National Teachers College gave the talk in behalf of the NTC. Students take a break from the College talks to do some stretching. Among the schools that gave a brief talk about their school is the Manuel L. Quezon University, a prominent law school. Some schools were generous enough to give away prizes to students who gamely participated in their talks.
