Pathways to Higher Education is very proud to be one of the four Finalists for the Asia 21 Public Service Award for 2008. The award acknowledges organizations that benefit social and economic groups, communities and the public in the Asia Pacific region.

The Asia Society’s Asia 21 Young Leaders Initiative is an international group of excellent young leaders from the Asia Pacific and the United States gathered together to develop creative, cross-cultural approaches to challenges in the region, to foster a peaceful and secure global environment, and to educate each other in the highest ideals of values-based leadership. As part of their initiative, the Asia 21 Fellows select and present the Asia 21 Public Service Award which consists of a $10,000 grant and the active support of the Asia 21 Fellows for program development and their assistance to replicate the project in the region.

Together with Pathways, Hands on Manila also from the Philippines, Machik from Tibet, and Mashad Positive Club from Iran are nominated for this award. According to the Asia 21 website, Pathways is one of the first Filipino organizations to be chosen.

Pathways to Higher Education is an innovative program of the Ateneo de Manila University that identifies deserving yet underprivileged high school students and equips them with necessary academic and non-academic skills to ensure that they get a fair chance at quality college education.
