The rainy season may have set in but it has not dampened the spirits of the Pathways students as they continue with their formation beginning this August.

The Self-Awareness Program (SAP) was implemented as the initial step in a series of workshops designed to mold participants into future leaders who will act consistently with Pathways’ vision and who will embody the organization’s core values. Improving knowledge of one’s self is believed to be a necessary first step in every formation course. The SAP is for Second Year High School participants aimed at helping the students acquire a better self-concept and build self-esteem.

The Social Awareness Development (SAD) is a program designed to mold participants into “men and women for others,” future leaders who would contribute in nation building and whose values are rooted in their love of country. After knowing more about themselves, it is believed that the students should be taught to go beyond their individual and self-centered concerns and learn to care for their communities and country. This workshop for Third Year High School participants is aimed at developing in the student the awareness, understanding and appreciation for the diverse values and culture of their local communities and country. This is also to give the students the opportunity to participate in development work and find fulfillment in serving others.

The Self Enhancement Workshop (SEW) was created to ensure the holistic formation of participants. Past experience show that academic preparation given to participants are not enough to get them through college and form them into conscientious leaders. The SEW is a series of workshops that allow the students to learn more about them selves; earn skills they can use inside and outside school and; realize their valuable role in the development of the country.

On the academic side, the Pathways students in third year high school are continuously attending weekly enrichment classes in Math and English. These classes are conducted by volunteer teachers comprised of college students from the Ateneo as well as professionals who offered their time and expertise for the Pathways kids.
