Last August 4, the kid’s Orientation Seminar (ORSEM) of the Pathways Enrichment Program for High School Students jump started the new school year. Attended by 150 students from Batch 9, this year had Harry Potter as its theme.
The new year is packed with changes in the enrichment program, which were made during the summer break and in the first few months of the school year leading to the ORSEM. After the opening prayer and once the students settled down, a review of the guidelines and decorum were presented to the students by Richard Tiu and Jerry Rimando. When the rules were made clear, Pathways Education Development Officer Len delos Santos presented the changes to the enrichment classes beginning with the introduction of Chemistry as replacement of the Self-Awareness Program which will not be implemented this year. An hour each will be allotted for Chemistry, Math, and English classes. The Social Awareness Development Program has also been reduced to four intense sessions throughout the year.
Later on during the event, the students got to meet their tutors for the whole year. The students were divided into different sections, allowing tutors to bond and get to know their tutees. All the sections later on converged for an activity requiring the whole SEC Field.
Although the wonderful day ended with snacks, it is sure that the ORSEM has jumpstarted another wonderful year in Pathways.
