Three hundred and thirteen students from selected high schools in Quezon City and Marikina City finished the school year a few weeks ahead of their batchmates as Pathways’ Enrichment Classes held its graduation ceremony last March 3.
The students, composed of 196 sophomore and 117 junior high students, were participants of Pathways’ saturday Enrichment Classes which ran during the whole school year. The sessions serve to supplement class lessons that applicants to the Pathways program receive from their regular classes. Included in the program are 12 Social Awareness modules (SAP) and 6 sessions with Peers-Ateneo, a counseling and self-awareness student group based in the Ateneo de Manila University. Junior high school students are provided 12 additional advanced tutorials in English and Mathematics along with the SAP. Students were recommended by their respective high schools in the Marikina, Project 4, Diliman, and Payatas area.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Manuel V. Pangilinan Student Leadership Center Roofdeck and was attended by the volunteer tutors and facilitators. Pathways director Solvie Nubla welcomed the attendees while multiple Palanca award-winner Jun Cruz Reyes gave the keynote speech. Participants with perfect attendance were also recognized during the ceremony.
The graduation marks the end of the Enrichment Classes’ second run. Enrichment Classes for the coming school year will only include third year students.
