Profile

Education Development focuses on the student-centered aspect of formation in Pathways. In line with our mission of helping deserving but marginalized youth obtain and complete a college education, the Education Development Unit has a threefold Academic Support Program.

Academic Support Program

One of the reasons why public high school students have difficulty in entering good public and private universities is because they lack the skills in major subject areas, such as Math and English. In order to address this issue, we have designed a curriculum that will help prepare graduating high school students for incoming College Entrance Tests and for core subjects in college. High school participants in our program are also given supplementary courses to build their competencies in Math and English, so that they may graduate with flying colors and eventually enter a college of their choice. Once scholars in college, Pathways continues to support them through tutorial sessions, counseling and other non-academic enrichment activities.

Alternative Learning Experience

We also provide alternative venues for education that facilitate conceptual learning as well as build interpersonal relations. We achieve this by offering counseling and development workshops.

Learning Resource Centers

Pathways has also set-up learning resource centers for the use of its student participants. In the past two years, Pathways has been able to establish two centers, one in Ateneo de Manila University, and another in Tañong High School, Marikina. Pathways has also established Computer Resource Centers in Malolos, Bulacan and Marbel, South Cotabato. There are computer workstations available as well as periodicals and publications which serve as resource materials for research.
