Higher Education is a Right

Not just for the privileged

Statistics show only 2 out of 10 filipino students will finish with a college degree. Among the relative few that have access to basic and secondary education, fewer still will attain the necessary educational requirements to qualify for knowledge work.

To address this pressing situation, Ateneo de Manila University with the help of the Ford Foundation started Pathways to Higher Education. Pathways is a new and innovative social involvement program that identifies bright but financially-underprivileged public high school students and equips them with the necessary skills, both academic and non-academic, to ensure they get a fair chance at a college education.

What separates Pathways from other scholarship programs is our holistic approach in addressing the problem in public education.

Recognizing the vital role parents play in the education and upbringing of their children, we provide values formation and livelihood training opportunities for the parents of our student participants. This contributes to a home environment that is more conducive to learning and growing.

Our Education Development unit is in charge of nurturing our students while our Community Development unit is in charge of empowering the parents. In the end, it is the whole community that benefits from the endeavor.
